I like the UI, but not a fan of some of their press releases:

https://about.qwant.com/download/10695/Qwant-China-statement.pdf

https://about.qwant.com/download/36670/CP-Qwant-x-Huawei-EN.pdf

For such a privacy-oriented company, it's concerning to me that they're the "only western search engine available in China" and are "one of the representatives of French innovation in China, with strong links with Chinese startups"--as they say in there. Think it's a pass for me.

Dug around and found a video from a while back:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36UmVaCrHMU

Go to 36 seconds and compare the form factor of the machine in the tweet with the side of the machine in the video. Looks like they use the Ethernet port behind the door for devices for people that are blind or can't use the main screen. So my guess there would be no way to detect that the door was opened since it would be for "normal operation".

That's Matthew Morgan:

https://www.washingtonian.com/2020/10/26/if-the-election-leads-to-a-legal-battle-here-are-the-lawyers-who-will-head-up-the-fight/

Looks like he was the lead counsel for a bit on Trump's official lawsuits in PA regarding mail-in ballots:

https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/trump-biden-election-day-2020/card/h0Q6kNeLacvLiLqou8ra

Then later got promoted to a general counsel for post-election litigation:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/09/us/politics/trump-campaign-poll-watch.html

Was originally Pence's deputy counsel, then lead counsel, deputy chief of staff for Pence, and now this role as council for Trump. For someone in that prominent of a role, there's really not a lot of info about him at all.

If someone has the ability to make an archive of those links, feel free to. My web blocker thinks archive.is is an "adult site".

Yep. You need to have access to the DNS of the root domain. You could be the domain owner, the domain owner could have delegated nameservers to another DNS host, whatever. All comes back to the point that DonaldJTrump.com isn't controlled by Trump. Even if it was, they would have just had that subdomain pointed to another service. There's a shop.donaldjtrump.com, an events.donaldjtrump.com, mailer.donaldjtrump.com...all pointing to different services and for different uses.

This is the top comment at the moment, so adding my piece on here by expanding on this point. For all of you who are freaking out because "BUT BUT BUT IT CAME FROM HIS WEBSITE!", here's some truth:

  1. The website "Donald J Trump for President" (the company sending these emails) is not Trump. It is a separate election committee sponsored and owned by WinRed, a third party service endorsed by the RNC. Nothing more. That's why they've gotten their dick slapped down in court because the couple of lawsuits they filed aren't acting on behalf of Trump.

  2. Even if Trump owns the DonaldJTrump.com website and has final say over it (spoiler alert: he doesn't), then email sent from a subdomain means jack shit. I could make a subdomain of BigMeatyCocksOoohHarderDaddy.DonaldJTrump.com and as long as their DNS host points an A record to my server's IP, it looks like my traffic is coming from DonaldJTrump.com. That's what literally almost every business does. You ever use an online checkout page? Same thing.

  3. If you're freaking out about this email, it means you're on this mailing list. Have you seen any of the other stuff they send out? Every other day it's "PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS CHOSEN YOU PERSONALLY!" or "TRUMP ASKED FOR YOUR OPINION ONLY" or "YOUR NAME IS AT THE TOP OF THE LIST" or whatever the hell. And if you believe those emails, then I don't know what to say to you. It's all a mountain of advertising bullshit. Nothing to do with Trump.

  4. Stop dooming fuckers.

Here’s the interesting thing to me...a couple weeks ago the MSM was running with the headlines that Barr said there was no election fraud, yadda yadda. And Trump gave a few remarks after that but he was really calm about everything. The key points in Trump’s remarks was that Barr said there were no civil claims to fraud (leaving the implied possibility of criminal fraud open) but after that the reporters asked him what he thought about Barr. Trump said to give him a couple weeks and he’d say what he thinks about Barr then. And today he comes out with this glowing praise of the man despite what people would expect.

Interesting times indeed...

Trump 100%

Speaking as a Catholic, I think a lot of people--both Catholic and non-Catholic--get confused on what authority the pope has. The whole "infallibility" thing only matters when 1) he's talking only about religious matters 2) he speaks "ex cathedra", meaning from the seat of the Vatican on behalf of the whole Church. That means that bishops have to convene, doctrines are drawn up, yadda yadda. In the past 2,000 years, papal infallibility has been used twice officially and about six times unofficially. And it's mainly been for stuff like denouncing a splinter sect of Christianity or what have you.

If the pope says something in his encyclicals or writings or whatever, you can read it if you want--or don't read it if you don't want to--and go about your life. He's just a man like the rest of us. Prone to sin, prone to being wrong. There have been plenty of way worse popes than Francis over the centuries. You pray for them that their intentions are good, guided by God, and that they don't lead Christians astray. But aside from that, you do your own thing.

Besides, seems to me there was once a pretty famous saying about "Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s."

We're in the middle of the season of Advent--a season of repentance, penance, and returning to God. For we know through our faith that the Lord shall come again in glory, but "about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father". We've been waiting for two thousand years. Maybe we have to wait for two thousand more, or maybe we only have to wait for two more hours. So above all else, let our hearts not grow cold with hate but rather replace each thought of hatred with a return to God, who is beyond all things here on Earth.

Christ has already won the final victory for us. He has made ready the path for our salvation. All we have to do is abide on Earth until we are called to Him, whenever that may be. Prepare yourselves and be ready always.

Veni Sanctae Spiritus Veni, Veni Emmanuel Wait for the Lord Anima Christi Faith of our Fathers

Our AG already joined on the side of Texas yesterday. This is just Bullock being pissy. He’s still mad that he got BTFO by a Republican when it was projected to be a really tight race for senate. Bullock doesn’t represent Montana.

Our legislature is probably still too split to do anything until January when the red wave of new folks get in and we get a Republican majority again.

The one time in his life that Bullock actually did anything at all and it’s just him jerking himself off. So much for his “I care about Montana values cause I’m a real Montanan” garbage he was selling a couple months back.

Good to see another Montana pede on here by the way!

Figures Bullock would try to pull something like this before he left. No one gave a shit about his mask mandates and no one’s going to give a shit about this either.

It wasn’t just the governor either. The new attorney general, senator, pretty much all representatives...I think everyone that won state office except for one person was Republican. Had a red wave that blew out every office by up to 13%. The one Democrat that won a small office was from Missoula. We don’t talk about Missoula much.

The new incoming governor got semi-famous a few years back for bodyslamming a reporter in public that wouldn’t stop spreading bullshit about him so he’s based as hell.

In the states that are being sued, the decision to mass-mail out ballots and change election rules was made not by the legislature but by Secretaries of State, governors, a friend of someone who worked in the tax office, whatever. So by the Supreme Court ruling against the four states in the TX suit, they’re not just limiting themselves to saying the late ballots were unconstitutional. They’re saying the whole election was unconstitutional. And that precedent could apply to a lot more than just the four states in this suit.

To be fair, I’d be totally fine if libs stopped noticing Montana and thought that it somehow just disappeared. It’d be the best Christmas present I could ever hope for. Best birthday present too, even.

Probably nothing until tomorrow at the earliest, but most likely Friday. Like Trump and everyone has been saying, the biggest case right now is the Texas suit. PA, GA, WI, and MI have their allotted time to respond until tomorrow at 3PM Eastern. Then SCOTUS will review the response. I think everyone's focusing on the Texas case now so probably won't be much movement on the others.
