And then I read The Gulag Archipelago, learned of the horrors that those poor people had to endure, learned about how Solzhenitsyn survived not only terrible times in those prisons but cancer as well. That is what brought me back. To see someone defeat all odds and write a book to protect others from repeating horrifying acts.
