You honestly think we would be allowed to leave without a fight? Of course we would have to fight for our independence. The suggestion that we should threaten to leave without preparing for war is shortsighted to say the least. The Civil War was the bloodiest war per capita we have ever fought. When I said irretrievable, I was referring to the loss of life and property damage through a civil war. Texas did not join back to the Union willingly we were forced back to the Union through a bloody war. We also had to endure reconstruction.
If Texas leaves she will have been put into a position that is so untenable that she has no choice. Not by throwing a teenaged hissy-fit and stomp away while slamming the door behind her.
She will have tried every other solution while building herself up for the coming fight. She won't allow herself to be de-weaponized. Before she leaves she would probably first have her citizens stop paying federal taxes. That would force a confrontation between us. Only when our resistance is no longer tolerated by the federal government and they send military to collect their money would Texas be forced to secede.
Only when they force our hand would we secede. It would literally come down to liberty or death as the only remaining option.

No, we should not. We are currently moving through our legislature a bill to make Texas a Sanctuary State for the 2nd Amendment. There are things Texas must do before we declare we wish to succeed. We are talking about banding with other states to make a pro-Constitution alliance to work within Federal Congress. We need an army, we need our own form of money, we need allies of other nations so that we are not immediately attacked by other countries and potentially allied to defend us against the US. We need the USA to be so intolerable that we would rather die than live in the USA.
You don't just declare your going to secede every time you get your nose in a snit. We have 2 years to prepare before the next election.
Sit down and think before you try to provoke people into irretrievable action.

I live in Texas and I absolutely care about the border wall. He did this nation a great service by building it. I learned things in that speech I did not know and I know that he is not dead. He deserves every honor he gets and many more he will not get.
