Because everyone has been talking about objecting for a week or so now. This was punishment for objecting. The excuse is the events today.

I think that's the big takeaway. Trump didn't want this, and its probably hurt anything he was trying to do, or will do in the next 20 days. It looks like those that were going to object will now certify.

And it says in the constitution that political violence goes against the constitution. Political violence. Which is different from throwing off a tyrannical government. We haven't experienced real tyranny yet. Recalling govenors over covid restrictions would have been done by the founding fathers, first. Had a governor tried to retain power, then they would have been forcefully removed. Remember, they spent around 20 years protesting the British, peacefully and legally, before revolting. The 1st amendment comes before the 2nd down the list for a reason.

The key to the revolutionary war was public sentiment. The vast majority of citizens by that time were done with British rule. By contrast, we just had 4 years of Trump.

Now, having said all that, marching on Washington was the right move. But I believe a small group of antifa instigated the "violence", successfully, and patriots followed suit thinking the happening was happening, egged on by other agitators. This whole thing was advertised. Anyone could show up. I'm angry at all the same things you all are, but now the narrative is about the "violence", instead of the march itself.

I'm sure many won't like what I've said, but I think it does need to be said.

ETA: And watching Charlie Kirk, he's hearing rumors on the hill that impeachment/25th amendment is a real possibility now. So that's great.

The other thing that helped the founding fathers was everyone on the sidelines having lived through the crowns rule. We haven't lived through Biden/China's rule. I don't want to, believe me. However, by the time of the revolution, those that wanted to remain under British rule were an extreme minority. Not 50%.

The founding fathers also peacefully protested for about 20 years of Crown rule before revolting.

I believe the message was about exhausting all peaceful and legal avenues, first. Waging revolution as a last resort, with remorseful and resolute determination. Not excited larping while taking selfies.

Well, Twitter muted Trump for 12 hours. But i do wonder about everyone else, his family, Lin Wood, Rudy.

Facebook and youtube have since deleted it (??) but Trump issued a video message basically saying that we need peace, to remember we are the party/people of Law and Order, and to go home now.

Among many things, the best thing we can do is to preserve history. The history that was written long before academia started rewriting it. Imagine if 1619 became state sanctioned.

Archive everything. Archive Levin and Rush. If possible, archive the National Archives. Teach it to your children. It will be boring for them, but find a way to teach it.

America was never 100% perfect, but we strove for it. That is the most important piece of history to preserve, and all the other pieces back that up.

Assuming Trump's message wasn't pre-recorded. All bets are off at this point without information from the man himself or his family.

I feel like everyone close to Trump would be tweeting this. Have they been blocked, suspended deleted? Are their tweets being deleted in real time?

We'll see. Heard there was a resolution to expel those that objected from congress. Dunno if that means for today, or for good.

Now I'm wondering if we/or antifa didn't just propel us further towards 1984.

No that is not what I'm saying. Leftist tactics? Interesting.

Exactly. It took the founding fathers 20 years of peaceful protesting to try and throw off the rule of the crown. This should have been the absolute last resort. Just like before.

Too late I think. I wouldn't be surprised if it started happening since .win was created. I hope not, but I would definitely say in the last 6 months for sure.

Also, when have you known Trump supporters desecrate the flag during a protest?

Panzershrekt 0 points ago +1 / -1

This would not be first time antifa have dressed up to cause trouble.

Literally what a false flag is.

Guys, where is the antifa counter protests?

I'd like to point out that for some reason on election night, the mods handed flair to anyone that asked during the megathread, because around that time the mods locked every thread to flaired users only. I personally think it was spez and the gang giving out the flairs so the sub could be infiltrated better.

It was never about optics, it was plausible deniability.

I swear ever since Independence Day came out, and that term was made mainstream, the left has been using the concept to get away with everything.

The Koch Brothers threw their support behind Hillary in 2016. Dunno of the entire Koch family did though.

I've got no phone service, living 2 1/2 hours from Nashville. So communication could have been a target. Or a 5g nut.
