They've been doing a lot in the shadows that they are either proud of or ashamed of. We know and most importantly they know we know. Not to sound cliche but I avoid anything Netflix has to do with, especially historically, religiously. I don't believe they'd honor Bolivar for the man he was as someone South Americans could venerate or look up to today. While I'm sure they have their moments, all Netflix touches is tainted with Marxism. I can recommend only podcasts produced by Mike Duncan. He's a historian, young, and produced the History of Rome. Fantastic and establishes basics around the way he tells his tales. Then when that was finished I switched over to his new production called Revolutions, which isn't PC. Not that he's like pro-MAGA but the dude calls a spade a spade and it's refreshing to hear 3-4 different versions of the same story from him only to have his preference given after he provides the information..
Very very true. I've long studied the American Revolution and compared it to others. I've enjoyed studying the English, French, Venezuelan, Peruvian, and soon Mexican to see the similarities and differences. There's so much to draw out and so few to share it with. Now I believe I have a place.

One thing that has been helpful is see how intelligent and brave men were sometimes in dire situations and what strength they drew from to help them continue on. I can only imagine the resolve of your ancestor to continue his path.
That's awesome. I am currently studying the South American Revolutions and am about to begin Simon Bolivars decent into his madness labrynth when his wars are finally over. I can't wait for the Mexican Revolution and to understand who and what role your ancestor played. When I look back at these Revolutions I see people very similar to ourselves as Americans because they call for ideals similar to our founding fathers, hell even Bolivar wanted to become the South American George Washington and in a lot of ways he was. Regardless, I think it's amazing and an honor to be on your side during these times and hope that your family is in a similar position as you.

Yeah that type is actually the worst. My brother was a "Centrist" as they call themselves for years. Always thought he had the answers and that the game was stupid.
