Every year we have viruses with slightly new attack vectors. That's why it's called "flu season". Just because it's "new" doesn't mean it's not a common cold / flu by definition. The change of language is a frequent communist tactic. "New common cold pandemic" wouldn't generate the fear they need to influence the 2020 elections.
It was a lie from the get-go. USA shut down because a researcher in the UK wanted to impress his married girl friend with how important he is (the 2 million dead prediction guy)? Can we all say "fall guy"? Very early on we had data from quarantined cruise ships which proved SARS-2 was only as deadly as a garden variety flu.
As for the "new" attack vector, the ACE2 receptor, only a minority in the US even expresses that receptor significantly (remember the "hits minorities" fear mongering).
Now, sewage samples from March 2019 in Spain are showing evidence of SARS-2. Remember that strange cough you had back in Oct/Sept 2019? Yeah that was SARS-2 IMHO.
The only difference between Influenza and human corona viruses like SARS-2 is one is positive sense and the other negative sense, but the jury is still out on which is a more effective attack vector.
What is consistently left out of this conversation is the fact that viruses are not living, and they exist because they help us in the long run, not hurt us. They are a biological method for transferring immunology between individuals in a population, and perhaps a bit of thinning the heard. As we've seen with SARS-2/COVID only individuals with suppressed immune systems or co-morbidity are are risk from even being symptomatic, let alone dying. Viruses are not bacteria or amoeba, they don't have an ulterior motive or a genetic imperative to reproduce.
Viruses have been with us since the beginning of life on Earth and to shut down the world economy because "Orange Man Bad" over a virus we now KNOW to be a nothing-burger is treasonous.
It will be three years. "Official" numbers don't come out until the year after and we'll need to see the data from the previous year, the current year and the next to know if SARS-2 was even a statistical blip.

Remember the cruise ship(s) that were quarantined? I did a deep dive into one of them and if I remember correctly the infection rate was fairly low and the mortality rate was equal to the world average. In a steel box.... With an older than average population... SMH
Two things.
First: the 125k is "died WITH COVID" not "died OF COVID". Dead in a car crash and test positive for COVID, that's a COVID related death. They do the same with drunk driving, smoking etc...
Second: Number of "confirmed cases" has no bearing on the total number of infected. MOST cases are asymptomatic or mild therefore MOST infected will never be tested.
It's just a numbers game, like the "popular vote" that Hillary "won". In both cases a true total will never be known because a full enumeration is never attempted and would be virtually impossible. So... The press gets to pick whatever numbers they want and report those as "truth" in both cases.
For "real" COVID mortality rates you have to estimate the total number of infected which puts the "cases" at 132 million, not 2.5 (estimating a 40% morbidity). That gives us a .09% mortality rate, in line with every other seasonal flu. If COVID is really as bad as they say then the total infected is much higher with a resulting much lower mortality rate.
The tell is that when you discount the "hot spots" where Governors purposefully infected nursing homes the total average mortality vs morbidity is in line with the 2017-2018 flu season even using their inflated numbers.
