It was such a weird thing at the time, the 'buses full of unoccupied children' and local churches being forced by the fed govt to house them. You have the loudest vocal minority in the history of humanity thanks to social media, although I'm a firm believer that on both Twitter and Reddit you are more likely to encounter a bot or state operative (look up Barry&Hill's "Global Engagement Center") than an actual sincere human. I think some of the most racist people are the people who try to make everything a racial issue. I think there's a Thomas Sowell quote about some people not wanting to actually fix things because they benefit from the conflict.

But you are correct, the most direct way to enact change is at the local level. Local election turnout is usually pretty weak. People don't really educate themselves for the local stuff, which admittedly can be hard to do sometimes. If your town has a local cable network, you can usually watch city council meetings on demand.
And the demands never end, they can never be appeased. Look at JK Rowling. Look at Terry Crewes. No matter how woke you think you are, they will eventually turn on you.

They have really tipped their hand by not cutting off power/water/etc. when they threatened to do it to businesses defying lockdown orders. No amount of mental gymnastics can justify that.
