Leftist pols don't hate the police, it's a game. The same game rightwing pols play with abortion.

The left wants the police to be "defunded" the same as the right wants abortion to be illegal. Which is "not at all". Both are dog whistles to their base.

You want to see how much the left likes the police? Make some noise in a left wing suburb after 10:00. 911. Immediately. Put their car on cinderblocks. 911. Have a black man follow them from a comfortable distance at night. 911. Defund the police is leftwing virtue signaling the same way pro life is rightwing virtue signaling. Because if they ever accomplished their goal the result would be so unpopular that you couldn't elect a Democrat dog catcher.

The guns used to be a game too. Leftwing pols would boast about taking the guns and donations would roll in. Ringwing pols would fearmongering about them taking your guns and the donations would roll in. And then they'd both have a beer together with donated cash and laugh about Americans being fucking idiots.

And this is how both sides are the same. Sitting there in their gerrymandered safe district having a pint over their political play theater. But then someone comes along with a vision, with a real passion for what they're talking about and suddenly, maybe they actually do it. And both sides are horrified that they actually fucking did it, but nobody stops them because they are in too deep.

And the worst part? The left doesn't hate cops. But they made us "pro cop" by virtue of pretending to hating them. Because our tribal left/right bullshit means "we" hate whatever "they" like and vice versa. But the side that is "pro-cop" is in for it when the other side controls the cop. Because we've conditioned our side to think the cops are the good guys. And now they're working for someone else.

They really made fun of Trump for that one, because he didn't say it very eloquently, but you're 100% right and so was he. More tests = more known cases. I'm not sure why that was controversial except for the fact that he said it....

Amen. I'm vaccinated and I'm not allowed into my doctor's office without a double mask. They make me wear a surgical mask over my cloth one. WTAF?

And I know it's not just because I have a MAGA mask, they're making everyone do it.

I don't trust anybody in the government. But this thing has been developed for decades and I feel pretty confident in it. Trump took it, Pence took it, Bush took it, Obama took it. I mean... is there anything else those 4 people can agree on? :P

PepeTrump2024 1 point ago +1 / -0

This particular virus spreads like wildfire, it's important to get vaccinated to kill the numbers on it, not necessarily to save you. It's far more contagious than the flu.

That said, I'm not going to disagree with you about this being overblown. My previous comments around here are pretty clear that I think that, even though I'm pretty pro vaccine.

PepeTrump2024 2 points ago +2 / -0

Serious question.... in 2 years when the emergency is over and these vaccines are FDA approved, will you feel differently?

We've been developing MRNA vaccines for 30 years. It's just not that new. You load it up with the correct RNA strand and it looks like covid and provokes an immune response. It's actually, IMHO, much safer than a traditional vaccines (like J&J or AZ) developed "on the fly" because it's really not that different than previous MRNA vaccines we've tested (like for Zika).

In fact, as somebody that is in a medically adjacent field and understands and is interested in this more than the average person... the crap that went on with the monkey pox is precisely WHY MRNA vaccines are so exciting. We'd never have to put anything "live" in a vaccine again. Just load MRNA delivery system up with new RNA strands, inject, move on.

If it sounds like science fiction it's because it basically is. Vaccines have come a long way since the 60s.

https://www.nytimes.com/1955/05/05/archives/bulbar-polio-kills-doctors-grandson.html

Doctor vaccinated his grandkids with a bad batch of Polio vaccine on live TV and killed one of them by giving them Polio. Using anything live in vaccines is like pretending that civil war "bone saws" are anything like modern doctors/modern medicine.

Do I know 100% that I'm fine? Of course not. But.... chicken pox can recur as shingles years later. Who knows what covid will do to us in 30 years? I'd just as soon not have it. Nothing I know about MRNA vaccines scare me.

Trump got Moderna $1.53 billion to develop the vaccine. I took the Moderna. I'm fine.

Really nothing. They shouldn't be using it on pregnant women and they aren't even CLOSE to far enough along in testing to be considering giving it to kids when they want to.... but I'm just against that because of how far along the trials are.

I had my second shot yesterday. I'm fine. Thanks to the real President for getting shit done.

Where are you getting that 3 in 1000? I actually think New Zealand's numbers are the best, since they have excellent mass testing and are small enough to handle all of this. Their case fatality rate is 1%, which is 1 in 100.

I've had some luck around here. I'm more liberal that the average pede.

I don't think I've changed anyone's mind about stuff but I think people round these parts are more inclined to respect my different opinion.

Of course folks around these parts aren't really fond of Republicans either, so it helps to keep an open mind when you think both sides are BS maybe? LOL.

PepeTrump2024 3 points ago +3 / -0

So what do you suggest? Seriously... I read right wing stuff, left wing stuff, foreign stuff, etc. But everything has a spin somewhere ya? I mean, I probably think my opinions are right and you think your opinions are right. Since we're both here we likely agree on more than we don't, but how would we hash out something in between? Obviously we're entitled to agree to disagree, but how would we really explore that and try to both change with an open mind?

As somebody is a medical adjacent field, this is actually how vaccine's work, yes.

Certainly there are side effects (yay blood clots) that don't fall under this category, and I'm not telling you to get the vaccine... but running a fever after a vaccine is just your immune system practicing.

Much like the Soviets helping us fight the Nazis in WW2, I don't think anybody, Trump especially, questioned that NK was the bad guy. It was totally a "keep your enemies close" move.

Damn right. I put a fucking swing set and slide in my back yard and my kid's friends play there now. I'm not getting arrested in a public park.

You're really wondering why people are telling other people on bumble that they can't catch the plague from them? I mean.... I think you should go ask your parents about the birds and the bees mate. LMAO.

PepeTrump2024 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's honestly what I'm most worried about. People worry about future vaccine damage, I know somebody who is young who is a covid "long hauler". There's all sorts of nasty research about the possibility of it giving you organ damage. Hopefully most is reversible, and I believe strongly in personal freedom, so if people don't want the vaccine, they don't want it. But I want it.

PepeTrump2024 7 points ago +10 / -3

Covid is more serious than the flu.

But that said, I'm with you on personal freedoms. I really think we should have left this up to individual businesses. If a supermarket chain wants to require masks, good for them. If they don't, good for them. Everyone can vote with their dollars. Same for restaurants running at full capacity, half capacity or takeout only. We could have done this with 2/3 less meddling from the government.

PepeTrump2024 3 points ago +3 / -0

LMFAO

If you put 500 political questions on a test I bet you the only one that we'd answer the same as the liberals is that we'd never vote for Mike Pence.

How could somebody be elected to anything when both sides hate him?

As somebody in science and medical field I'll just tell you that most of the vaccine fear around these parts are overblown. Trump got it, Melania got it, I got it. It's not gonna rewrite your DNA or give you covid or any of the truly stupid things that you hear.

Was it rushed? Yes. Do I like that they are giving it to pregnant women? No. Am I going to give it to my kids soon? No. Did I worry when they stuck me? No. You shouldn't either.

I'm one of the few around here that actually takes covid really seriously (unfortunately). I seem to get downvoted into oblivion every time that I do take covid really seriously. But I just wanted to say that you bring up some really important points.

Like.... I'm not dead today because I felt totally comfortable wandering into a first med place for something that I would describe as a 2 out of 10 on the pain meter. I can take much more pain than that, but my brain tossed out a weird red alert and I really couldn't feel calm until I went in. They caught my cancer really early and I'm fine.

Like.... I think about all the people that are scared to leave their house.... none of them are listening to their brain's red alerts? I think about all the people that are alone and depressed and lockdown is literally killing them. It doesn't mean I'm downplaying covid, but what you're saying here... it needs to be said more.

I worry for my kids that can't play with their friends on the playground and wtf this is doing to them and how many of them are going to have anxiety disorders from this.

Anyways, long winded way of saying "thanks for posting this".

No, they are saying pending autopsy that her cause of death is disputed. If she died of advanced heart disease with a 90% clogged artery... well, it sucks, but it really couldn't be caused by the vaccine. If they can't figure out why a healthy young person dropped dead, then the vaccine is a very likely suspect.

To put another way..... "Kerra_Holt found over dead body with a knife" is a misleading title if the body was shot. If it turns out the body is full of stab wounds, the title becomes much less misleading.

I'm not defending Twitter, but I really don't think they are disputing her death, lol.

Covid is 98% survivable and the vaccine is 99.999% survivable (based on 966 people dying within 50 days of being vaccinated and us administering 90 million doses).

I'm not thrilled with the vaccine, and I will quite likely survive both, but I'm 100% taking my chances with the vaccine over the virus.

I was never that worried about the commies. I'm more worried about those that don't think Biden and Mitch are on the same side.
