I mean, technically you’re both right. The English word itself is based on Latin. But the word as a whole is based on Hebrew. The word which is currently English, came from the Latin word, which came from the Greek word, which came from the Hebrew word.

I did this too a while back, and came upon the same conclusion. I read somewhere that the death count number people refer to for 2020 in this meme (and others like it), is actually a projection of the number of deaths we will have worldwide, by the end of the year using the data from the first half or so of this year. Idk if that’s bullshit, but their argument is that you can’t really use the first half of the year to make a linear projection of what the rest of the year is going to look like because death rates are cyclical/seasonal, not linear
