While lack of insider status was his greatest strength it was also his weakness It took him 2 years to root out all the snakes that were sold to him as solid conservatives. Think about how much better each and every cabinet member is today than it was in 2017.

They want to recruit anti-wall activists. The narrative of "There is no wall" wasn't working to dissuade patriots from supporting Trump so they need to gin up their base to stop the wall.

"There is no wall and also we need to stop the wall" was always an interesting take from the left. Like they couldn't decide which narrative to push so they just went with both.
