Exactly. Some platforms make it difficult or impossible (at least for the non-tech-savvy) to install apps sourced from outside the official app store.
And if the app stores DO allow the app, even if it requires no permissions, installing it on your device permanently connects your political affiliation to your device account. Uninstalling the app won't delete that record. Given the current political climate, many may not be comfortable with that.

Apps can also be less secure due to enforced permissions.

My feelings are mixed as well. I think many of us know that:
- The schools in many municipalities frankly suck.
- Many teachers have abandoned the woke curriculum to teach their own doublepluswoke ideas about BLM protests, etc.
- The school committees line their pockets with the education funds while schools are left to use twenty-year-old textbooks (which these days might actually be better, given how woke modern textbooks are).
I don't envy the teachers the problems you describe, although to be fair, managing chaotic children and their leftist parents was difficult even before Covid.
All of that said, the left knows that whatever else schools may be, they serve as free daycare so parents can work. If the left can keep schools closed, and therefore keep parents from working, then they can keep industry half shut down even if it is officially open. The left hopes to wreck the economy to prevent Trump's re-election.
And so I say, open the schools.
