So I’ve worked as a BHT for going on 13 years now taking requests from school staff to do safety assessments for children for things like suicidal/homicidal thoughts. We have a requirement (our agency and the other behavioral health agency that also does these assessments) that the guardian be contacted, notified, AND give consent for us to speak to their child before we do so

Signing a child up for counseling also requires consent from a guardian, and of course the counselor has to be licensed by the board of behavioral health to practice

This is a clear circumvention of the rules. I’m assuming they are trying to claim it’s a school “club” and not formal counseling as their loophole
