There's going to be another white flight from Chicago and I fully believe we'll be vilified for it. Also, don't care.
Good luck to the city when your remaining tax base does not sufficiently provide to pay the unfunded pension liabilities to the police you've vilified or the salaries and pensions of the newly overpaid teachers that have provided no advancement to the systemically poor south and west sides of Chicago. The city will eat its own.
I actually would be surprised if Walmart or other big brands moved out of the city, the optics would be poor. I'd also imagine they pull back investment, however.
I live in Chicago on a major retail street. They tore the city apart limb from limb. I don’t know about other parts of the city, but here it was all blacks in shit cars. The cops just let them do it. I even heard one joke “At this point they’re lucky if they can still find stuff to loot at the dollar store.” This was as criminals were ransacking the remaining stores. The liberal mayor came on this morning to say that cops did everything they could to save the city from looters, while most literally doing nothing. I hate this city, I’ve resolved to move to a red state. I can’t even buy a gun as the state has held onto my FOID registration for over a year without processing it.
Fuck. That’s powerful.
I’m not a hero pedes, but I’ve served alongside a few. I’ll tell you something, you never know what you sacrifice until you find yourself tearing up thinking about a brother or two you wish you pulled out of a burning Humvee. You never think to look out for yourself because you know there’s brothers that are dealing with far worse. Somehow a decade and change flies by in between.

Repatriating manufacturing will be done with automation. The jobs they likely create will likely be technical heavy. However, they'll likely spur a surrounding industry of sales and support.
You know, creating enough jobs for journalists who will learn to code.
Why is it partially false?
