Different times, different context. A secession now would launch America (and by America I mean the red states) into unparalleled prosperity while blue states remain under house arrest and falling into social authoritarianism.

Dark Blue areas are trying to out-do each other with how authoritarian they can be. The tyrants in SF have put six counties on shelter in place. I'm sure others will follow. The left loves pandemics because they can justify their deep-down fascist urges.

I'm glad your governor is allowing you to live like you did before. Did he deem you "essential?" That was very nice of him. Did he deem your job "essential" as well? It must be great to have such a strong and caring leader.
Except that's not how America works. In the US we have enumerated rights upon which the government cannot infringe. In NY you have a dictator that grants you privileges as he sees fit. Luckily you benefit from such an arrangement. But one day you might not.
Everyone is essential. Everyone has rights that the state may not take away. Not just privileged jokers like you.
