The supposed “deliberate” attack on the USS Liberty during the Six-Day War is an enduring Islamist and American Nazi conspiracy theory. Within hours of the Liberty incident, the Israeli PM, Foreign Minister and ambassador in Washington had all apologized profusely on Israel’s behalf. Within 48 hours, the Israeli government offered to compensate the victims and their families, paying over $13 million in restitution. The attack was the subject of 10 U.S. investigations and three more by Israel. no credible evidence for anything but friendly fire has ever been produced. Ever. Documents have all been declassified. Never mind that Israel didn’t try to hide its flag markings on its planes, or that if Israel wanted to sink the ship in a pre-planned attack for some nefarious reason (that conspiracy loons can never quite articulate), it could have done so easily with torpedoes, etc, that would have enabled Israel to remain incognito. The Liberty was a small ship, not a destroyer. There is no logical reason for an attack, and none of the transcripts back up your claim. Friendly fire has occurred in every war ever fought (how many times did the US strike the British forces in Afghanistan and Iraq despite having state of the art technology). BTW, the same day of the Liberty incident, Israel attacked one of its own armored columns. Further, with Israel at war, this ship should have been (and was supposed to be) miles away from the location where it got hit. Meanwhile Arab countries have poured millions into this fairytale trying to create anti-Israeli sentiment in America.
