I think it comes down to the police. If they step up and stop the madness with arrests then you won’t see any type of retaliation.
If there is some sort of overwhelming force or group that is not controllable by the local police forces we may see lots of regular joes out like its trick or treating for adults and the candy is doled out in lead.
If there’s any kind of ruckus in your hood just keep the lights off and bring in any loose furniture or decorations you might have out front of the house.
I think the hype of mass unrest is highly over estimated although there will be plenty of hot spots and mini “protests.”

Jason’s deli. Not a single person in there and the 19 year old girl at the cash register said put on a mask. When I said I don’t have one today she asked if she could give me one. My retort was pleasant, “no thank you.” She asked if it was for dine in or to go and when I said, “to go” it appeared she was going to just let it slide. After saying I would have to wait outside, I didn’t have a problem, but then she asked again if she could get me a mask, “for everyone’s safety”. I did the over the shoulder glance at the entirely empty restaurant and said, “we’re over ten feet apart, you’re just fine.” That wasn’t the end of it and again she said went through the “safety” shtick and wouldn’t take my order.
