The only thing I see posing a problem in the future is hyper symptomatic responses to mutated strains of the same virus. It is the single biggest reason there has never been a vaccine for the common cold as animal testing resulted in deadly outcomes.

Common sense dictates that viruses will never be contained. Also, large droplets fall to the ground in a short distance and aren’t the driver of transmission from person to person. Sure, don’t sneeze n my face, but don’t be afraid to live your life either.
The absolute best thing for reducing the effects and transmission of viruses is to keep your hands away from your face and eyes and maintain a healthy lifestyle. This brings up another point about why masks aren’t effective at stopping the transmission. The eyes are a portal just the same.
By the way, have you ever seen the levels of gear required in a level 4 bio lab to prevent the transmission of these types of viruses? The cloth masks we are mandated to wear are a fucking novelty, at best, and a limiter of immunity building and bacterial infecting, at worst. They are a net detriment under the circumstances and didn’t stop anyone from contracting the virus. The numbers truly prove that.
Finally, wearing a mask in a normal setting brings your hands to your face more often. Any contamination simply gets transferred to your hands which then go on to touch door handles, money, flat surfaces, you name it. For this reason, they simply don’t prevent the virus from achieving multiple avenues to be transmitted from person to person. Sure, if I throw a handful of sand at a chain link fence it’s bound to stop a tiny fraction of it from passing through, but the vast majority makes its way past and that’s why these masks aren’t stopping jack shit.
