Yes. It leads to micro businesses where the owner is literally a one man band. Kinda like the novelty musician on the street who has the drum, horn, harmonica and tambourine all going at once.
It works, but it’s not a good representation of a healthy business. What I see happening is these type of businesses will be crushed rather quickly and then the large corporations will go back to a lower minimum wage after they are all decimated.
It’s not to fuck over workers, per se. It’s to limit the cost of business associated with having humans as your workforce.
The robot never calls in sick, doesn’t need health care, never needs a break, is always on time and doesn’t have a shred of insubordination. There’s also no union, no strikes, no personal problems and no looking for a raise when it’s not deserved.
Bottom line, no pun intended, robots make a whole lotta sense for business owners in this type of position.
