Back in the late 90s, I met my first Ukrainian, and he indeed lost his s*** over someone saying "The Ukraine". The best I could understand, it's because in that context, "ukraine" in Russian means something akin to "outlands", and it gave the connotation of people from The Ukraine being a Russian version of backwater redneck, inbred hillbillies.

Is it wrong of me that I just consider this "remake" in the same genre as that weird Winnie the Pooh "horror movie" from last year? Just cheap, intentional capitalizing upon a famous and antique name, and otherwise unrelated in any way.
