The first step towards this dystopian nightmare in the US was when all medical records were required to be digital, an absurdly bad idea. That plan was “sold” as a great thing because no one could come up with another way for people to have their medical records available to themselves to share with whom they wanted when they wanted (yeah, right). It all had to be digital, ergo insecure, ergo available to anyone ... DUMB.
