I think everyone here understands what it used to mean to be classically "liberal". Back then we could all agree that we love our country and our flag and we basically wanted the same goals but tended to disagree on how to get there. Now as others have already stated, "liberalism" has been co-opted by extremists. I feel the same about liberals now as I feel about Muslims - the non-radicalized need to stand up to the extremists before I'll be more willing to believe there is any true differentiation between the two. As long as you keep allowing the bullies and thugs to speak for your party, you are functionally all the same.
Notice how elections officials and the media have been normalizing the use of the term "tabulation" in place of "counting" for several years now. Tabulation implies more complex processes are being used to arrive at final vote tallies than would be required by the use of simple counting of whole numbers. They think we're so stupid we'll just "forget" that there are no fractional values required for the counting of whole numbers if they just keep using fancy words to describe the process.

I'm also an aging lady pede. I agree with you whole heartedly. But I always wonder which came first...being liberal or being miserable? Seems like miserable people flock to liberalism because it aligns with their pre-existing condition. Non-misrable women understand there's more to life than looks. External beauty is a young woman's game and that is how it's meant to be so they can attract a partner to procreate. Once that's over our purpose is to support our families and help the younger women find their way, not to attention whore and slut around.
