What you need to think about is this... Conservatives ARE compassionate. We are extremely generous. We donate money to the less fortunate, more than any other group of people. Check it out. There are tons of studies that confirm this. We do not want homeless people; most are vets; we love our vets and owe them for their service.
What we disagree on is who provides that money; who provides that charity. We believe the individual, through their own heart should provide as one is able. Leftists believe it should be taken from the people and redistributed under threat of State sanctioned force.
We know EVERYTHING run by the government will be corrupted and those that are the target of any program will suffer the most.
Don't believe me? Look at how much money LA County has spent to house the homeless. I think you'll find the number insane. Guess what (before COVID) homelessness was at an all-time high. Why? Because there are a lot of people that work for the program and ending it would mean an end of their job.
In liberal land, problems create programs, programs promote programs, which exacerbates the problem so that the program can grow.
Liberals like to wash their hands of charity, pushing it to the State. This is because they don't like giving what they have. They'd rather that money come from the tax pool... a pool they try to avoid paying into if they can. Better it's someone else's money.
Conservatives believe in helping each other: individuals help the family, families help the community, the community helps the state...
