The entire American political system is based around the idea of building broad coalitions. The primaries are now over, Biden is on the far reaches of the left and Trump aligned himself center-right.
It shouldn't be hard for Trump to capture the center in this environment. I really hope he hammers home policy in the second debate like Pence did in the VP debate rather than letting it all be about personality differences. They have all the data they need to destroy the Democratic platform.
Even pick an issue that the GOP doesn't care about - like climate change. Point to CO2 levels being 60% lower than the Obama years due to increased use of natural gas after withdrawing from the Paris Accords (which stuck the US with bill for the planet despite us making <15% of greenhouse gases). Slam dunk that on Biden's head and ask him why we should go back to being energy dependent on the Middle East like we were when he was VP.
The pro-choice argument rests with the denial of a fetus being a human life though - because the idea of an innocent life being extinguished is unacceptable. This is why they talk about how a fetus is part of the woman's body.
It's pretty clear that is scientifically flawed for 3 reasons.
- The fetus has a distinct set of chromosomes separate from the mother
- The fetus has its own independent heartbeat
- The fetus has separate brainwaves, independent from those of the mother's body.
It can therefore not be a body part and must be considered a separate living being.
Never heard of Pacific University. Sounds like another garbage non-target school surviving off govt provided student loans of naive students while offering no marketable degree in return.
Makes sense this trash would teach there.
Considering only 9200 people actually died of COVID19 according to revised CDC numbers, Trump is only about 0.5% as effective as flu season. Libs really got us on this one boys.
In all seriousness, why is that that Dems choose to attack their domestic political opponents rather that malevolent foreign powers like China? They show no interest in uniting Americans against the actual perpetrators.
29 Palms Marines & Pendleton Marines are dead on.
Okinawa Marine is confined to base.
There's no way anyone would survive 10 seconds dressed like the Lejeune picture without dozens of Staff NCOs full on sprinting over with knife hands (via the sidewalks so as not to disturb Sergeant Major's grass) to correct said Marines. Fake news.
I think they tried to do this with Biden but with his wonky moral compass and unfathomable ability to fuck up, he kept drifting left to try to catch the societal tide but ended up adrift in the far left with the Kamala Harris VP pick instead.
If he picked Tulsi Gabbard, Pete Buttigieg, or even Amy Klobucher, he would've had a far easier time picking up centrists.
As the saying goes, however, never interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake.
Control for total population growth and those numbers get a lot less impressive.
I appreciate the Latin mass - but many people new to the faith, especially in developing countries, don't have the depth of education to really understand what's going on. The only reason the mass was said in Latin was because it was the official high language of the Roman Empire when Constantine made it the official language. Jesus and his disciples spoke Aramaic, maybe some spoke Greek (St. Paul's letters were in Greek). Allowing people to hear the mass in their native tongue aids in the understanding of religion.
I'm not trying shit on Catholicism. They're the OG Christians and I think the greatest tragedy of Christianity was the division of the Church caused by human corruption and the lack of separation between the church and the state.
Protestants got the separation right faster (in some cases), ditched corrupt indulgences faster, and found new ways to reach people through sermons and music. The lack of orthodoxy and recent moral relativism is absolutely a problem but for all Christianity- not just the Protestants.
Meh. You don't need to hear it in a dead language to understand the message, it's a big reason why they've lost so many followers over the years. Even some priests don't understand the reasons behind the 2000 year old traditions that make up the mass.
The problem is that the Catholic Church's slow administration and control creates debilitating response times to priests who go off the rails with their preaching or who conduct themselves inappropriately. It's a problem most organized churches have but the Catholic Church is on a whole different scale with 1B followers
I love Chicago but progressives are trying their damnedest to make the city worse to spite Trump -- or make themselves feel better by pushing "feel good" emotional slogans as policy.
*Fight for 15 - economically terrible idea *BLM - Truism cloaked in Marxism *No Justice, No Peace - totally oblivious to the fact that the city has been run by Democrats for almost a century
I'll never understand how the diagnosis to their policies is always "not our fault" or "not progressive enough". If your ideas are shit and I came prove it mathematically then you need to rethink it.
So glad they got rid of that one
