We don't win anything if they pull in boxes of phony absentee ballots at the last minute that just so happen to have barely enough votes to steal the election. That's the ONLY reason my State has a D Governor, and without announcing it as official policy he's been preventing sick people from getting medicine. Some 2500 people tested positive and only TWO recovered, that just doesn't happen when you let people have Trump pills.

I agree completely that we have not faced a world ending disease. And I don't think we will. Everybody seems very disgruntled at the response to Wuflu, and I am one of them.
IF we had to corn teen for 2 weeks, the whole idea was that people might be contagious that long and never know they were infected. Since then we learned that most people develop symptoms in 5 days. So by April 1 almost everybody that hadn't been working knew if they were sick, had time to get tested, and time for those test results to come back. On April 1 all Counties with 0-10 people tested positive could've opened up completely. As well as everybody who had recovered; virus-free and immune has no risk, regardless where you are.
We probably would have had a second wave, but no way could it have spiraled out of control. And we'd get very useful data and experience to apply to opening up more of the Country, which we could then do responsibly about now. GDP would be nowhere near normal, but much better than it is now. A very large portion of the Country would've sprung back to life.
With Trump pills I'd say this is even less of an issue than "regular old flu." Assuming no Governor is interfering with Drs practicing medicine, as soon as anybody tests positive they can get Trump pills and self quarantine. The only real exception is people at risk of developing heart arrhythmia. And even there you can substitute a different antiibiotic, (doxycyclene?) cut the risk way down, and still get great results. All breathing problems gone in 2 days, almost nobody needs to go to the hospital and even fewer need a ventilator, nobody dies, most are virus-free in 6 days.
