there was only 1. Nobody should have ever presented info to policymakers with only 1 source
the one source they relied on said right on it many errors and omissions. At the very least before presenting this information to policy makers they should have corrected these errors and filled in the known missing blanks. Plus looked for other sources, which there might not have been any others.
Heads should roll. Figuratively speaking. Policy makers shouldn't be expected to fact check their experts. Experts should act responsibly, and they did not.
This is a truly high level of finance. I understand what's happened with money since well before Napoleon, but I can't claim to fathom what's happening right now. Some claim DJT caused the US Treasury to take over the Fed. I think that's a great idea, but I don't see it. Others say the exact opposite happened, that the Fed has more power than ever, to which I add it's bankrupting us by design. This reflects my best understanding, but I won't assert that I'm right.

I agree. Kinda surprised no one else has mentioned this. I'm old enough to remember when we had air raid drills, to prepare to defend ourselves against the Soviets. I write this largely for the OP, because this is often how we handle things here; rational discussion. I remember when this Country could largely discuss widely divergent opinions, even when we were on opposite sides of the aisle. Maybe whatever "new normal" we settle into after this crisis is over, that will again be part of the US?

I will point out that what Christianity actually teaches, and therefore is defined by, does not contradict your stated ideals at all. Which means that the people you have observed behaving in the stated ways you object to are imperfect.
