My grandmother worked at an insurance agency up into her 70s and I remember when I was little, every Sunday when we visited for breakfast she would show us print outs of these spicy/funny images with text that her and other businesses would fax back and forth to each other. She refused to switch to a computer, but she was in the meme business before it was a thing.
