My daughter is only 15 months right now and loves phone screens. So I limit that as much as possible. But more than that, she loves being outdoors. So basically every time she asks to go outside, I take her outside to play.
One of my main goals is to keep her desires for screens as low as possible and her desire for exercise and outdoors as high as possible.
She sees what we do and copies us. Now she's obsessed with helping my wife cook/mix stuff lol. She sees me working with tools so I let her work safely as well. I feel one of my father's mistakes at times was that he would be so busy working on things at home and trying to get done that he didn't let us mess around and "help" often. So when we grew up more and he would ask us to help him remodel or whatnot... We had already lost interest and wouldn't want to help... I was personally addicted to runescape and nothing could take me off including my dad breaking my computer.
Soon as I hit my 20's, having quit gaming... I deeply regretted not having listened. He literally remodeled a 1,600 sq ft house and built on AROUND ME, NEARLY BY HIMSELF, into a 5,000 sq ft house... And I learned nothing.

I quit playing games myself but I have a 33 year old brother (not made up number) who not only spends all his time playing video games, but got his 11 year old son his own gaming computer so he wouldn't have to actually raise him... So he can play video games all day uninterrupted while the 11 year old does as well.
