While technically there is a monarch in UK, Belgium or Netherlands and it's not an elective position (some monarchies throughout history were elective, not hereditary) and they have some power, it's honestly a figurehead position and mostly symbolic. Remove the royal figure and they're basically a republic.
Even definitions of "American republicanism" explicitly say "representative democracy" because... that's what republic is.
Over half of the world countries are republics by definition. USA is exceptional in it form of government, and even is exceptional in that it was like that from the beginning over two centuries ago, BUT it's not exceptional today by being a republic.
Saying "republic not a democracy" is dumb when:
