You specifically don't need to. I run my own Matrix / Email server, but that's because I have the time / skills. I however, do not run my own Fediverse (Mastodon/Plemora) instance. That just looks like a headache, but I support a group of people that do.

Simply having the option to host your own is what you want. For example, when Signal goes down, that's it. If you had 100 operators who could intercommunicate, if a handful goes down, the rest can still operate.

Don't you have to use their servers? Frontends that use Matrix (Element for example), allow you to host your own server and federate just like email does.

He was also waving the papers around that cameras were able to see. The good news is it looks like Trump is going to make a stand.

And what would the IA do for him that he isn't already doing? Are the 30k troops being sent on orders of Biden or Trump? Why are they there?

I heard there was an inauguration. I was unaware it included Biden.

An argument that has been made by an analyst I follow, Thomas Wictor, claims that Trump will wait till the 19th and will present the senate with conclusive evidence that Biden is compromised and the election was stolen. The reason for the date was that it would require all senators to agree to the session to permit meeting on the 19th which would inhibit a session occurring for impeachment.

Personally, I don't know if the 19th requirement to meet does indeed need all senators to agree as I haven't dived into the rules, but I don't see what the benefit of waiting till the last possible second; it limits contingency plans. I'd argue that the EO for interfering with elections is the nail and the insurrection act is the hammer and are likely the best bet. If it can be demonstrated how bad the corruption is, it's an act of war regardless of if they're senators or not.

Having monitored the Fediverse for 5 years, there was some of that at the beginning with respect to nodes refusing to federate with others, but it's becoming more diversified in thought as more independent instances pop up. You may be surprised what you find.

Is this a surprise to anyone? He was sucking up to Hillary before the 2015 election.

They also screwed up 'federating' between other instances. They are literally snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory!

I'm slightly disappointed no one is calling for more people to move to the 'Fediverse' (Mastodon/Pleroma). Federated systems are the way to go; it's worked out well for email and scales better than fully decentralized systems.

Seconded for Matrix. I'd even compromise and say host your own IRC server if Matrix is too resource intensive.

I'd classify myself as a 'Ron Paul' Republican, so I share a lot of tenants with libertarianism. However, libertarianism falls apart if you refuse to recognize that people are tribal, and want open borders. It only works in societies where people share similar values without this vital piece it's a waste of time.

You should take a look at the voting map if only women voted. It's quite enlightening, but carry on.

Offer to buy his land? Get a cat? You know, the options that don't involve a government-like entity with even less oversight than a city council.

I've also subscribed since I've appreciated their free service till the end of the year. The $2.50/mo seems more than fair.

And if any officer attempts to arrest him, they're executing an unlawful order which opens them up to liability.

I like how the D lady said: "DEBOOOOONKED" when she saw non-standard suitcases for ballots ON VIDEO. Either she's being purposefully dense or is in on it.

The first lady should have taken off her mask so Rudy could have heard her and moved her along.... >,<

Some of them. There were many that did not. I actually followed Torba on another instance till he stopped federating. Such a waste.

I'm talking about the other Fediverse nodes, not clients. They no longer federate. It'd be the same as Google saying you can only email other Gmail users when the protocols are already in place to allow you to email Yahoo users.

Newsmax apparently is currently doing free online streaming, so I guess I'll try it out. I used to read their site religiously 15 yrs ago.
