Just dont take too much. It can affect your adrenal function and blood pressure. Seriously though anytime I know a had a major exposure to the virus in aerosol (intubation for example) I always take some Zinc and glycyrrhizin when I get home.

I agree it looks suspicious. I've been going to TD since it was on reddit though. Admittedly, Ive come here a lot more since the election since this is where the news actually is first.

My point is we still don't really know how it affects the body long term. If im rolling the dice, Ill go with the vaccine. I do not think that makes me a martyr. I know thats not the choice most here would make. You know there's many different mutations that could occur. As long as the protein component the vaccine is targeted against is not changed then in still works. What specialty are you?

I think it's a damn shame Hydroxychloroquine was politicized. The risks with that med were way overblown with the MSM. The research against it was junk science ad the AMA position on it was BS. There's a reason I dont send the AMA any money and let my membership lapse after medical school. As for as its true effectiveness Im still not sure, but Ill happily write the script for a patient that wants to try it. There's so many people that handle COVID just fine that I think we have to ask was it Hydroxychloroquine or were they going to be fine anyway. I think I like to see a well done study in high risk population and see how well it works there.

Not to do too deep a dive but....Your body needs to be shedding viral particles (saliva, coughing, etc) at a high rate to cause infection to another person. If your immune system has already been trained to recognize the virus when you come into contact with it your immune system will destroy it and prevent any meaning shedding of the virus. The vac is supposedly about 95% effective at training your immune system to do this.

Say what you will about mRNA vaccines, there is actually something that is quite cool about them. Normally a vaccine will contain part of a protein that is in/on the viral shell. When your body sees the protein...BANG. It goes after the virus. This immunity only lasts so long though. mRNA vaccines teach the body to not just recognize a viral protein but also the genetic code for it so if the viral RNA shows up again it will be destroyed/ recognized as foreign. This immunity lasts much longer.

Yeah the second dose apparently really sucks. Of the people I know that have had it so far they have all felt pretty shitty the next day or two. After that no problems though.

We will certainly see long term. Like I originally said. Ill let you guys know how it goes.

Bells Palsy was definitely one of the things I considered before getting the shot. Of the patients that got bells palsy, it occurred at different time periods. Also, it occurred at a rate that was lower than the expected baseline rate within a population of that sample size.

Totally agree on Zinc and Vit C. If you are interested in those types of therapies you should also look into glycyrrhizin which comes from liquorice. It has antiviral properties as well as inhibiting the inflammatory cascade.

Well like I said in my original post-in a large portion of the people that handle it just fine we are still seeing inflammatory changes in the heart muscle and chronic fatigue. In some of these patients the severe fatigue is lasting months. I aint got time for that. This is something we don't typically see with a common cold. BTW I'm a big advocate of zinc and glycerrhizin as treatment/ preventative measures and Im not trying to convince anyone to take the shot.

What public health officials have done is absolutely awful. The myopic focus on only COVID with no other considerations for mental health, the economy, etc and the pass for lefty protesters is unforgivable.

Im really not surprised though. Medical specialties seem to split on party lines. Most surgeons I know are conservatives.

THeres a bunch of specialties that are full of liberals-family med, psych, pediatrics, and of course -public health

I certainly did consider the risks. I actually took care of one of the patients that had an anaphylactic reaction. To my knowledge there have been 7 in total so far. The mRNA in the vaccine can not be added to your DNA and breaks down very easily. What specifically are you most concerned abut with future generations?

Go for it. Ivermectin has its side effects too (seizures and vision loss) make sure you dose it right.

"How do I know COVID is real?"

With viral syndromes we usually see either a predominately respiratory or GI symptoms. With COVID you tend to get both. Also, the appearance of the xrays are quite unique. These show bilateral patchy opacities. This appearance is actually not that common. There are also a number of labs that show up it certain ways. Individually these are meaningless. When these all show up together in the same way over and over you begin to realize its the same disease.
