Pedes I'm from the South, I was always taught please and thank you, yes ma'am and no ma'am, hold the door for others, wave to acknowledge a nice gesture. I teach this to my kids, but sadly it is not returned as much as it used to be. I let them know it's not their fault those people were raised poorly and keep it up because someone will appreciate it.
This all seems to have come together way too fast to be spur of the moment.
