I did. I have to wear one to receive medical care and my cloth ‘TRUMP 2020‘ mask, while both pretty and provocative, is too heavy to wear in a SC summer. My sheer ‘mask’ seems acceptable. God have mercy on us all.
On the other hand, I did have to shop at Walmart today (sorry) and I just said ‘medically exempt’ and kept walking. No problems but I was deeply disheartened that I was the only person not wearing one. It breaks my heart to see little kiddos‘ cute faces hidden behind these show-rags.
My prayer for you is a little light in the midst of your sadness.
I’m also in SC and probably won’t ever return to my beloved church. I’m disgusted by the craven response to Wuhan flu. I thought it was our duty to run toward the sick, to offer public worship to all who needed it, to offer sacraments to the dying. I was told that the main reason our church groveled to the mandates was because they didn’t want to be sued if someone got sick.
Oh! Now I understand the 501(c)(3) is the church! Stupid me thought it was Lord Christ. Anyway, I’m really enjoying reading my Bible and deepening my prayer life. Alone.

Kudos to you and your husband! I’m pleased to say my daughter and son-in-law (both professionals) made the same choices. She is so happy to have the privilege to raise the children they chose to have. He took a pay cut with the scamdemic, but they’ve always lived below their means and just tightened the budget. They know how to do delicious beans and rice! (A nod to Dave Ramsey.) They have also decided to homeschool this fall. Couldn’t be prouder!
I got my supply from Australia and it wasn’t easy. Not expecting to get the Chinese flu, just want to be prepared and not have to fight with my doctor. Now my first-aid kit is ready with zinc and a Z-pac.
The HVAC guy was just here on a service call. Told me his sister is a nurse at (major) hospital in TN. All the nurses on her floor tested positive, all asymptomatic. So, 10 blank tests were sent in because, clearly, something was wrong. All 10 came back positive. He said the kicker is they now have to test negative before they can work again and every test they take is counted as a new case! I seriously want to slap people who still believe in this crap.
I have laughed at this for a good 20 minutes and am stealing every single word to keep the damn Yankees out of SC. Well, except the Tex-Mex food... NO GOOD PIZZA here, assholes!
Sing it loud, Brother! I’m too Southern-nice to say it quite that directly, but it’s what I’m thinking. I don’t even use our community pool anymore because they talk so damned loud, it actually hurts my ears.
Had to laugh! I have an acute anxiety disorder as part of another illness. It’s been a challenge to manage well during the scamdemic. Even though I do not watch/read so-called news, and have never had FB, etc., the FEAR seems to be in the damn ether!! A couple of things have helped: first of all, I’m sane, and I visit TDW to laugh at the great memes, and, in order to have some reasonable knowledge around the WuFlu, once a week I check a data-driven website. I admire your spirit in educating the idiots!
I think you’re right but a born and bred Southern gal is hard-wired to be gracious. But, bless their hearts, I wish to hell those braying asses would stay in their Yankee corrals!
Your posts have helped me keep my sanity the last few months. I KNEW it was a scamdemic from week two! My friends are all still REEEEEEING and I’ve stopped trying to reason with them. They get mad and I get tired. BTW, you’re one of the reasons I stopped lurking and finally created an account. Never had any social media presence before TDW. Anyway, thanks for clear reporting.
Can confirm the prices are getting jacked. I wanted to do a local move, downsize and bank some cash. The cancerous Yankee hordes have made it impossible. They are moving from such overpriced, crappy old houses, they’ve died and gone to heaven when they can buy a new gorgeous home for less than $400K and pay $3K for property taxes. And as soon as they get unpacked, the Karen-ing begins.....Starting to hate them.
Can confirm the fleeing mobs are heading to my coastal SC town. Real estate sales numbers here are going through the roof and the number of NY/NJ/CT license plates sitting in driveways is disheartening.
There is a NJ-based developer who has bought huge tracts of property here, is building like crazy, and has a literal pipeline of buyers being fed to us (and FL) out of the NJ sales office.
Judging from my local govt.’s subtle, creeping changes (boiling the frog), these damn Yankees are weaseling their policies into place, affecting everything from schooling to local and state politics. My native Southern politeness is deserting me. When one of them whines about ‘that’s not how we do it where I’m from,’ I coldly reply, ‘I-95 WILL take you home.’ Pretty soon my comment is going to be a lot ruder.
Just mandated masks in public places here in my SC county. Haven’t worn one since the scamdemic started, but will have to in order to receive some medical care. Ordered a bright red TRUMP 2020 mask from Etsy. They want a mask? I’ll give them one the Karens won’t like looking at. Guys, I’m finally coming out of the closet! I’ll let you know how it goes, because I’m an old grandma and a little nervous about harassment.
My first post, too. I feel like I’ve been pushed into the final corner: Christian, white, Trumpette, Southern, gun owner. My little corner of SC has been nearly overrun with damn Yankees, all screaming Karens, though they sure do love paying low property tax! I’m STUNNED at how many folks have bought the scamdemic, hook, line, and sinker.
Got denied service by my dermatologist yesterday because I refused to wear a mask during a skin-scan, even though I’ve had surgery for melanoma and get regular follow-up care. Basic science that a mask doesn’t stop a virus. Mask rule was more important to doctor than giving medical care.
Local govt. just passed a mandate requiring masks beginning today. Sheriff is all onboard with it! Sick to death of being dehumanized; not being able to see smiles, or understand the employees’ muffled speech. Fortunately, I live right on the county line and can shop elsewhere. I have to keep my mouth shut around the few friends I have left. Logic matters not!
Anyway, I’ve really enjoyed lurking on this (mostly) uplifting site. My late husband would have loved it. I can sometimes hear him laughing at the great memes! Thanks for giving me a place to rant! It’s lonely out here!
I voted for one of his opponents in the primary, but you’re right: it’s a losing battle. At this point, I pretty much hate everybody but DJT.
