Now it's 2020, and Trump is using the media to destroy themselves. They can't resist carrying water for Biden, arguing with the President, pretending the laptop isn't a valid issue. People are watching them, and they hate what they see.

Yeah, most of them would probably prefer if it was Trump, but if that's off the table, and if you can make a national name for yourself by being the guy who brings down Biden, bringing down Biden starts looking like a pretty good option.
Remember, these are all individuals making their own decisions. There isn't one anti-Trump hive mind in DC, much as it might look that way at times. People in high places want to have the freedom to do whatever they want. What pisses them off is when other people have MORE freedom to do whatever they want. If you don't owe the Bidens anything and you aren't taking money from China, you're pissed and would love the chance to get one over on those assholes.
