cops asking for your info/ID......... its just to put you in the psychological mindset that THEY are in "control"
they often don't have the specific "right" to request or receive or coerce that information - but they do it anyway "just cuz"
it puts the citizen in an uncomfortable position - a person NATURALLY wants to comply with legally constituted authority - but when officers overstep their bounds.... it gets "awkward" (to say the least)
