I would include term limits as a part of an “ending career politics” plank in the platform. Other things that would go under there would be lifetime bans on becoming a lobbyist or other type of Washington consultant, bans on any investing or stock trading while in office, bans on any other sources of income during the term, bans on any source of income after or before the term that relates to the time spent in office.
I would add a plank for preservation of the bill of rights in modern times that would include things like defining the “digital public square,” applying 2A to modern weapons, applying 4A to modern papers and affects.
The war on drugs and the drug crisis in America can be ended by legalizing all drugs, but only allowing the sale of drugs through government run stores which sell a consistent and safe product at far lower prices, while stiffening the penalties for any type of manufacture or sales that occur outside of the system. This will increase the risk and decrease the reward of illicit gang/cartel operations and all types of enforcement will be targeted at routing these enterprises out of existence. There will be very enticing store credits offered to any person who snitched on illicit suppliers, if anyone knows where the illicit sources are its the addicts themselves. The government would use the profits from these stores to run this laser focused enforcement while also providing public health resources at these stores because they can naturally function as a great hub for things like HIV testing, hepatitis vaccinations, and addiction rehab. Excluded from this should be cannabis, which should be fully legalized with no strings attached. I don’t smoke it but it is far less harmful to the individual and to society than alcohol or even tobacco.
State and federal jobs should also be revamped to incentivize better fiduciary duty. Currently, these jobs are havens for people who want to slack off, never worry about being fired, and just coast at work until their pension vests and they can ring the register for the rest of their lives. This does not exist in the private sector and it should not exist in the public sector.
Elimination of beurocratic bloat should also be added. I’m not sure what this entails but every single department should be regularly audited and eliminated if it isn’t actually helping.
Socially, there should also be a staunch and explicit renounciation of cancel culture and historical revisionism. This should continue and expand Trump’s rebuke of critical race theory and other anti American doctrines in our institutions.
There should be a major push to reduce or eliminate income taxes and replace that revenue with tariffs. This will make USA goods much more price competitive and give everyone more money to spend on them. I believe this is how our government was originally intended to be funded.
Healthcare is another major issue. I think that insurance companies and PBMs need to be reigned in and broken up to create a free market. Hospitals and HCPs should have to arbitrate and justify their prices, after which there should be no negotiations. We need to figure out what an actual fair price is and stop all the fuckery that insurance companies pull that makes it necessary for HCPs to come up with their own fuckery.
I would also add things to strengthen the nuclear family and figure out how to bring up our own birth rates so we aren’t dependent on immigration. The nuclear family should be recognized as the fundamental social unit of the country. We should make moves that will allow us to return to families having the financial option of keeping one parent at home, whether it is the mother or the father.
Meritocracy and equality of opportunity should be the law of the land and equality of outcome should be irrelevant.
