SolarWinds also audits network devices and computers for software licensing therefore needs elevated permissions to scan hard drives and registry. If those access credentials are farmed you have a world of shit to deal with and resolve.
Like any other business. Dominion will have computer systems for running their business.. Their web site, office staff systems, file servers, development servers and every other piece of network equipment needed to link it all together. Nothing to do with the 'voting' systems placed in the voting centers. They may well use SolarWinds to monitor their business systems that are totally separate from the voting machines they provide. E.g Apple or Samsung may use Solarwinds on their corporate network.. that doesnt mean Solarwinds are on the phones they sell.

Yeah.. they might well be removing SolarWinds SNMP strings because of the hack, It affects anything running SNMP including routers, switches, servers.. you name it SolarWinds moniros ALL devices on a network. They are not going to "wait till the weekend" if their network routers and switches need to be reconfigured because they're at risk! Might be something else but I manage networks and know how much a disaster this hack is for network engineers.
