So this approach worked with the Mrs, the first time I took her to a range she freaked and wouldnt go in. I eased her into it and now shes like an old pro. Like others have mentioned on here, find a good local range that has rentals. If you have never shot a pistol before, try a 22 first. Some people dont expect (and/or handle very well) recoil, muzzle flash and the loud bang. All of this is minimal with a 22. Use that to get comfortable handling a firearm and live ammo. Work your way up after that. Find something that feels comfortable in your hand and on your hip and that you feel comfortable shooting. Everyone has a different opinion, but the Mrs and I both carry 9mm exclusively. Larger capacity mags, manageable muzzle rise for follow up shots, etc. When you're ready to buy one and start carrying, remember you absolutely get what you pay for. I carry a Sig every day, she carries a Glock. They can be pricey to some people (maybe not you, you could make 7 figures a year, idk) but what you buy can literally be the difference between life and death if you ever have to use it. Great tip, too many people dont even think of self defense insurance. The wife and I have uscca policies. Sadly, Michigan is going that way where I will need multiple policies with all the insane leftists the indoctrination centers and the "do as your union tells you" crowd elects. Its sickening. Self defense insurance with the right company is worth every cent, and it's not even overpriced.
My wife and I have a policy from uscca. After researching i found that they dont reimburse lawyer fees, etc., they pay them up front. Plus a 50% discount for my wifes policy when linked with mine. Their customer service is fantastic too. Very prompt and helpful. I highly recommend them. Hopefully they're worth a look for you, if this is what you are looking for.
I live in Michigan. This bitch does all kinds of gymnastics. Last week it was to "stop a second wave..." They have no problem at all making anyone of us the poster child for how "tough they are on violence," even if it was brought to you and you're in defense of said violence. Just be careful everyone, dont give them what they want. If you have to defend what's yours, or your family or yourself, make it absolutely clear that you had no other option.

Although in my area every store has the "be a cuck, wear a mask" sign on the front door, menards has been the only one to this point to actually refuse me service without. They actually have it on the home page of their website that customers "must wear a mask..." been in there about 5 times since that went up, yesterday was the first time they actually said something to me.
The guy behind me in line actually came up to us as we were loading the truck and asked if what I was saying in there was true. Cashier said "oh I didnt know that" after her manager walked away. I like to think that a couple people learned the truth yesterday.
Me and the wife were at a home improvement store yesterday. They had their bullshit "must wear mask" sign on the door. As usual, we ignored and walked in. We were there for about 90 minutes picking our stuff out, went to check out, and all of a sudden, here comes the manager. So I educated him, the cashier and a few people in line, pulled my shirt up over my mouth and asked if this worked for him. He nodded and went away. It's an absolute joke, and I almost feel bad for the people trying to force people to do this bullshit. They're just doing what their corporate masters dictate. It's all bullshit to begin with, so why not make a mockery of it. Arguing with the manager of a store wont get anybody anywhere.

Just had this conversation with a CC instructor and former cop. Like many replies, MI law is worded the same, where the purpose of the mask is to "hide identity." That being said, according to the guy I spoke to, if you have a mask on because of the big scary virus hoax, because a place of business wont let you in without a muzzle, you would not be wearing it to conceal your identity. This guy knows his shit, so I'm inclined to believe what hes telling me.
