No, if you break the law, you're by default a criminal. A conviction is to show if you did break the law or not. If you are found not guilty, you haven't broken the law and the people that arrested you can't prosecute someone for doing exactly the same thing again. Because there is precedent to show it's not a crime (the verdict).
The law is solid, but people can interpret it differently. Which is why we need convictions, cause otherwise anyone can claim someone broke a law. That's why we have a fucking justice system, with cops, prosecutors, defenders, judges and jury. Because we need an extensive system to prevent non-criminals from being imprisoned.
