Hospitals have resources that nursing homes will never have and now that we know who's most vulnerable, the elderly, that's where the human costs (staff and patients and their families) are truly gut wrenching. The NHS (The UK) just reported the TOTAL Covid deaths from ages 0-59 is 4,717...that's "it". The Covid deaths for persons aged 60+? 56,000. Pretty huge difference. As of last week, here in the states, there had been a TOTAL of hospitalizations due to the FLU was 167 cases. Now, as an RN, I'm no expert in statistics or epidemiology or virology but common sense says: Covid is nowhere near as serious as we've had shoved down our throats for the last 12+ months. One more statistic, last week Utah had the lowest vaccination rate in the country (4.6%) and yet their Covid numbers were plummeting. Now that the testing is considerably more reliable I really do believe we've all been "tricked" into living in a state of fear and I for one am pissed.
