What you need are projects to work on now, and google your way through them. You'll learn best by hitting walls and working your way around them. Think of some problems you could solve or things that would make what you do on your computer easier. Write something that'll grab the headlines from your favorite news sites and email them to you. The only way to get better is to dive in.
Working with some other guys in that thread, I'm grabbing all of the dead people data from 1900 on and we wrote an API wrapper for Michigan's vote check. Tomorrow we'll be able to run through thousands of names programmatically. Fuck the dems.
