I know you are upset at the outcome, as am I, but using the revolution as an example of a war that didn't end in a mess shows a lack of knowledge of history. The newly formed United States was a very fragile country without direction for a good 10-20 years after the revolution. If we had a civil war not only would we be in a state of turmoil for potentially several years but other countries seeing our weakness may wish to invade our soil. Do you honestly believe China will stay out of it if we were to start a civil war?

Another part of the impending civil war that worries me is not the war itself. With most conflicts of this nature you end up with an authoritarian system when all is said and done. History is full of stories of governments falling, a leader of the winning faction taking supreme control, and the failure of said leader to relinquish that control after the war has ended.

There is a reason most of the western world respects George Washington. He had the ability to take complete control of the country and walked away from it. Very few have ever done so. Is there anyone today you would trust to do the same?

Having lived there for 25 years I can tell you "Upstate NY" (Basically anything more than an hour or so from the city) has been a red strong hold. The issue is NYC is just over half the population of NY so what the city picks is what happens. This year though most New Yorkers are pissed at the current leaders so there is a real chance it goes red as a result.

In all fairness he may not have been faking the hear attack. Stress can cause a normal heart to fail, so it most definitely can make the heart of someone on drugs go into arrest.

His problem, however, is that he was acting erratic the entire time they were talking to him. So when something actually started killing him the officers didn't believe him until it was too late.

More than likely he did have a heart attack that lead to his death. I don't believe the other person is arguing against the heart attack. Most likely though the heart attack was cause by several factors such as the drugs in his system and his mental state probably didn't help his overall heart rate. I'm no doctor but if I had to guess I would say his heart was beating abnormally prior to the police even talking to him. The stress of the situation is what turned it into a full on heart attack.

That said if he didn't do drugs and just went with what the officers said for him to do he probably would be alive today.

With normal unemployment plus the $600 a week the unemployed are making more than many of the people actually working.

You are 100% right. Problem with minority communities is that they teach their kids to fight the police and never listen to them. That's most likely the reason the article notices a 50% higher rate for police to be "physical" with a black person.

Even some of my white friends are buying this resist at all costs mentality which will get them in a lot of trouble. I never understood it personally. Even if the cop is in the wrong all you get by fighting him in that moment is more issues. Its better to take the ticket or get arrested and lawyer up then to wrestle in the streets with the guy.
