Atheists don't believe that God doesn't exist. We don't believe that any God exists. It's a big difference. To believe that God doesn't exist implies gnostic atheism, which not very many people hold because it does not allow for the possibility despite the absence of evidence. The classical atheist position is that there may be a God and there may not be, but due to lack of evidence there is no reason to believe that one exists; unless you take it on faith, in which case any rational arguments one makes for God become invalid as faith supersedes them.

The watchmaker argument has been refuted countless times:

The problem with the watchmaker argument is that the choice of object to try and prove the existence of a creator is something that we already know is man made. We have countless examples of people building watches, building the materials for watches, using watches, etc. People in favor of the argument like to use the watch as an example because they claim that the watch is so complex that it is evidence that it must have had a creator make it compared to everything else around it (which is lumped in with the watch, but the watch is the prime example for the argument), but the problem with this line of thinking is believing that the watch is inherently complex; complexity is relative.

What this argument cannot do is use a naturally occurring substance to prove the point. The watchmaker argument fails if you trade out the watch for something that occurs naturally, say, a grain of sand on that deserted island, or a shell on the beach. The argument falls apart when it is forced to use something that is obviously not man made. The argument would have to hold up if I were to walk on that deserted island, pick up a grain of sand and proclaim the exact same things about creator intent and that someone had obviously had been here before because of the existence of this grain of sand. In that sense, that grain of sand you pick up is really no different from any other grain of sand on the island, there would be no reason to pick it up and proclaim that a creator had done it, nothing would draw you to believe that it is any different from the others. This is why people use the watch, because it's such an obvious standout from everything that occurs naturally that it makes the argument seem logical, when in reality it would be no different from walking on an island made entirely of watches, next to a sea of watches, and picking up one watch and saying that someone has obviously created it; hence, why complexity is relative.

Edit: I would also hardly call the watchmaker argument the classical argument made towards atheist viewpoints, I have not seen anyone tout this argument seriously in years because of the argument's long history of refutations. I can't think of any prominent Christian/Catholic or apologist who still uses the watchmaker argument seriously today.

As an atheist I would argue that truth and virtue are not given to us on high, but exist independent of a concept of God.

At the same time, level headed atheists understand the value of Christian morality and ethics, and the ones that are so intent on abandoning those lessons are the ones that will cave to the mob. Christian morality does make up a hefty amount of what people would believe on average, but to say that God is the source of truth and virtue in the world, it's a bit of a stretch.

Oh please, the left doesn't care about those pesky laws as long as their virtue signaling gets them retweets.

Public safety for them now means getting rid of cops so no one can interfere with them eliminating white people who "oppress" them.

These people are like cats with a shiny object, and the shiny object is new retarded policies that contradict the last shiny object they put in place.

In the future release of Skyrim on the new Fleshlight model, you won't even have a sex to pick from anymore.

Title is misleading.

Median =/= average.

Great. Across from the fucking White House, we are now naming roads after "movements" that should be declared domestic terrorist organizations.

What's next, Antifa street?

I'd say Thomas Sowell is a fantastic choice, man's a treasure trove of insight and truth.

A book isn't going to do it at this point. These kids won't see truth unless they are willing to see it, if you force a book on them they won't absorb it. If he just graduated, he's going to think that he's already been educated about this and that you're trying to undermine that.

I graduated from college 2 years ago and a lot of kids in my graduating class were leftists, almost all of them in fact. They didn't want to see the truth because believing what they were taught in their gen ed classes was easier, and they wouldn't question it. And we're all doctors, you'd think we'd all care about truth; but sadly that only seems to apply to our profession, not politics.

Changing that kind of mindset takes years, not a book, and I encourage you to engage in discussion with him about it.

Not religious, but I feel this.

And they're right. That shit is fucking demonic. It's a cult in the next process of recruitment.

This is what I've been saying for days, all of this shit is being timed out to coincide with critical dates leading up to November, and it's ultimately all about mail in voting and ballot harvesting.

These people are fucking evil.

I live here, and news has been really slow to trickle in after each night. We still have papers reporting on Sunday night protesting.

Makes me think it's intentional, I 100% believe they delay these stories and hide them to make protestors look good and justified.

I never specifically mentioned China and Iran, I just said communist infiltrators and anarchists.

Antifa. BLM, and many leftist elected officials are communists. They are the infiltrators. They are the anarchists.

Right now they are who this fight is against.

Seabring 2 points ago +2 / -0

This a coup, one that's been in the making for years.

Americans are soon going to be pushed to defend their country from within, against communist infiltrators and anarchists. Your average American is sick of this shit, and unless this rioting and crime is stopped at once then the 2nd Ammendment will be making a big stand soon.

Well we already know who's funding Antifa, and Barr apparently has their comms with political officials, so if names are gonna be named it's more likely to come from there.

Gotta love how this cunt says there's no organization, no meeting, dues, or anything. It's just an ideology.
