Why would anyone vote if they knew their ballot didn't count and if their guy did accidentally win, the left would just print enough ballots to steal it.

Met quite a few who've regretted NOT voting for him, but never the other way around.
When I get asked about the electoral college I explain it like this:
World series. Cubs vs White Sox
Games 1-3 the Sox win each game 10-0
Games 4-7 the Cubs win each game 1-0
Who wins the World Series and why?
Obviously the Cubs because they won 4 games to 3... and NOT the White Sox who outscored the Cubs 30 to 4.
The rules to win the series are set out in advance and both teams agree to abide by them. After its over, the Sox don't get to lobby the league for a rules change to allow the team with the most runs to win.
Just like the WS, you have to win the most STATES and not just get the most VOTES.
This allows the smaller states to be able to band together and counter the huge population centers.
Also, I tell them that half of the original 13 colonies would not even join the Union unless there was some way they could avoid always getting out voted by New York and Boston with huge populations. Just like New York and LA today can outvote a dozen of us Red Flyover states.
I've yet to have anyone disagree and have had many people understand it finally when they have it explained to them in terms they can understand.
In the timeline where Hillary won the 2016 election, I'll be in their version of the_donald, they are always posting about how lucky those of us living in the "Trump timeline" are.
And there is probably a post like this one where they say something like "I'll bet in the Trump timeline they post about how sorry they feel for those of us living in the Clinton timeline"
