You don't know how correct you are, at least with Chicago. Went into the academy (Chicago Police Training Division if you want to be exact) in 2016 and everyday it was "you can't trust anyone but other CPD officers, civilians want you dead, be like the military and be ruthless, etc". I consider it an act of God that I got injured and had to withdraw, I will never go back to them. I refuse to be part of a department that intentionally injures recruits because CPD wants to be seen as "hardcore".
As for the past drug use, their official "hidden to the public" stance is that they cant get enough applicants if they exclude based on past drug use. I don't have an issue with someone being taken on if their use was trying pot once, we were all young once and made stupid decisions. What I DO have a problem with it letting someone who used multiple drugs for extended time in.
Last bit is they try to train people as if CPD is the military. I understand breaking down an individual to rebuild a team, but they never got farther than breaking down endlessly and then wondering why they have such high rates of injury.
I'll be 31 for this election and I can safely say that 19 and 23 year old me were a liberal idiot who thought with his emotions and not with common sense or looking at the candidates' policies and voting for the one who had the most in line with my own personal beliefs.
I only just saw a Biden campaign commercial last night because work still airs NBA games (I work at a casino, we kind of need to show them for sports betting). It was the most bland generic campaign possible with a slogan "Build Back Better" without saying how that would happen.
If it seriously becomes Biden they go with then Trump better point out in debates repeatedly that Biden is a creepy serial child sniffer. If only so we can hear CNN and the like try to defend old Sniffles in all those videos.
In IL close to St Louis they told us it was mandatory, wouldnt have given prints if I knew it was optional.
