I disagree. The book is clearly political and activist in nature. It's inflammatory and genuinely incites crime. Regardless of how it's dealt with legally, a political problem can have a political solution: the denial to the author of what are essentially proceeds of crime.

It's non violent political action, and I think its so perfectly self justified by the work makes it valid and morally excusable if not strictly legal.

We can agree on the ideology part at least then! Guy was a drug addict in the process of getting clean though. If he had maintained that I could see him becoming conservative.

I think if John Lennon had lived he would have been a part of our movement. He was the most ideological of the Beatles, but also the hardest, most cynical one.

Edit: My original comment was for a different thread.

I don't think they let him kill a Trump supporter, I think he's on the run. We don't know the assessments that have been made, he might be judged low risk now he can't move in public. He's clearly not a tactician, he might be inadvertently smoking out bigger fish.

A Chad Wolf would be though.

Of all the things that were too good to be true...

We got a white guy with a BLM neck tattoo.

Look at how much of a moron this guy is though. I'd let the crazy Antifa murderer with the BLM tattoo confess on TV too if my intent was to justify declaring them terrorist organisations.

He thinks he's a martyr. He thinks he's John Brown, but it's more likely he'll end up as John Doe.

How perfect is the tattoo! We are watching a movie.

This is top shelf banter. The fact that these two can share a joke like this increases my opinion of both.

You're right, it wouldn't be an easy thing to do.

I'm not talking about for the benefit of the people there. You're right about them. I'm talking for the benefit of potentially millions of sets of eyeballs that might scrutinise your every decision later - it's those people that fanned the incident up into the it's chaos it's become. Teach them how to do the pragmatic bare minimum to provide instant context for any future armchair constables.

I'm not suggesting that they have to submit to a live public grilling. In this specific situation at least, if someone is waving a camera in your face screaming "He's not breathing" you could say "Yes he is" or "We have assessed that and the situation is under control" or "The EMT is on the way" or this is a "Code such and such situation".

The other officer there all he was doing was standing around and making cop movie snarky comments like "don't do drugs" anyway. I'm not saying he was required to do any of those things, but it probably would have helped if he had.

The officer who was keeping the bystanders at bay could have given a simple explanation of what was happening and actually addressed their concerns. An essential part of policing is maintaining the confidence of the public and their collective silence and inaction when confronted by screaming members of the public (and let's face it, a camera that multiplied the screams millions of times) is really unfortunate.

Maybe part of a complete redesign of police training could be the kind of media training that young sportsmen get?

Agreed. It was a really unfortunate situation.

This might be a stupid question, but on the point of the FAT file structure as evidence the files were manually stolen:

How do we know that these are the files created at the point of entry, and not copies of those files that might have been retrieved over the internet and then transfered to a thumb drive at some later point?

I totally agree with you. They guy followed his procedures, and it looks like with all the evidence we have now that he has a better case to make in court than we originally thought.

But still, look at all the trouble this caused. Even if they were waiting for something like this to get started, think of how bad it's been. There are things they might have done or said to go the extra mile, that I wish they could have done. I'm sure you can imagine that whole situation resolving in a different way. These we adequate police men.
