Yes, I'm aware. The Sierras get lots of rain and tons of snow and the runoff traped by reservoirs provide water to the valley farms. The water shortage is mostly driven by dumping river water to the ocean rather than delivery through canal systems to the farms.
Most productive farmland worldwide is irrigated. Watering lawns in central CA is stupid anyway. We voluntarily rock the desert landscaping here and save the water for the orchards. I'm guessing you're in an urban location based on your complaining about farmers using water. Ag>lawns.

My wife and I go to Aldi all the time with no mask and no one gives AF. I just politely decline to wear one when asked at other places. Haven't worn one yet, only been thrown out of a couple places. For local businesses, why they would get crazy is beyond me...money is money.
