What I'm doing with my mask is i keep it on the dash of my car. When i go to a relatively crowded in door area i put it on. When i get back to my car i take it off, replace on the dash and sanitize my hands. Why the dash? The heat in the car and from the sun will absolutely sterilize it, at least right now in the GA heat.
This isn't about fear, it's about knowledge.
Tell me when I can take my mask off then? June? August? September? Christmas 2020? Spring 2021?
Dude, that's on you. I won't support any government mandate forcing it. However, address this. If you wear a mask, you can potentially keep someone around you from getting sick, or potentially die though astronomically low. Is wearing a mask when in a crowded area for a few minutes worth the mild discomfort of it if it prevents someone from getting sick?
We just disagree on this. And that is ok. I am NOT afraid of a virus with a 99% survivablity. There are viruses everywhere, all the time.
As i am absolutely not afraid of the virus either. Do I WANT to get sick with it? No, otherwise i'd go around licking the knob of every door I encounter. I don't do that for the same reason i wash my hands and wear a mask if i'm out shopping.
No, just when I'm in crowded indoor spaces. I've seen fools with them on in their cars. I'm not advocating governors mandate them just as i'm not advocating police in bathrooms making sure people wash their hands. However, it's not a lot to ask to just put on a mask when in crowded indoor spaces. If you got a big problem with that you're just being childish.
Hey, i don't want your shit covered hands touching my groceries when you're shopping.
You're acting like a child being told to put on their shoes before they go outside who doesn't want to.
If it could potentially keep someone from getting sick, or even die though astronomically low, is that not worth 30 mins of mild discomfort while shopping?

mask =/= fear. And i agree, the hysteria over covid is manufactured and it's not that big of a deal. I do not support government mandates. But, wearing a mask can potentially keep someone from getting sick. You could have the virus right now, not know it, and be spreading it. If you wear a mask, there's a chance you won't spread it. Is it not a lot to ask to put on a mask during your 30 mins of shopping? Do you take 20 seconds to wash your hands after you shit? Knowing that you could potentially keep someone from getting sick, or even die though astromically low, is that not worth 30 mins of mild discomfort?
See: https://s.hdnux.com/photos/01/11/66/67/19361245/3/460x1240.jpg for a simple understanding of why it does help some.
As far as government goes, no mandate to wear a mask should ever exist. Just like no mandate to wash your hands after you shit should exist. However, you should just be a decent person and do it.
lol, i said earlier in the thread i'm a nurse. I've worn them at least for part of my day ~5 days a week for 8 years.
I'm supporting reasonable things to slow spread of a virus. Wash your hands. Wear a mask if in a crowded public space. I'm not supporting tyrannical governors mandating people at a park 100 yards away from anyone being forced to wear one, or anyone being forced at the hand of government to wear a mask.
it's just a little courtesy. When out in public and i use the restroom, i wash my hands. Not a lot to ask for!
As said, I will not support any legislation that mandates it. We need less government, not more. But just common courtesy. You take a shit, wash your hands. That's not a lot to ask right? We don't need police in the bathrooms forcing people to wash their hands afterwords, just friggen do it. Or are you opposed to spending 20 seconds to wash your hands after taking a dump too?
If there's a chance, even slight, that by putting on a mask during your 30 mins of shopping you could keep someone from getting sick (even if it's mild, which most cases are) isn't that worth 30 mins of mild discomfort? How about potentially saving a life even if astronomically small? Yeah, I'll breathe slightly less fresh air for 30 mins for your sake, for anyone's sake.
I wear a mask as a nurse when I go to surgery suites not to protect myself, but to not spread germs to the patients who are compromised.
The point is to spread it less. Unless you just think "everything is a lie!" reports say you can carry and spread the virus bring asymptomatic. Wearing a mask absolutely cuts the spread for those who are carriers. If you wear a mask, you can potentially keep someone from getting sick. Maybe, maybe not, but it's a small thing to ask that can potentially keep someone from getting sick or even save a life.
You're acting like you're being asked to wear a damn full body condom. It's just a mask while shopping, it's not about fear or any other bullshit. At worst, all it does it keeps me from smelling your bad breath. I'm okay with that too
edit: In case you don't get it this image shows how effective masks are pretty easily https://s.hdnux.com/photos/01/11/66/67/19361245/3/460x1240.jpg
Masks are meant to instill fear
I take it you think vaccines are meant to instill autism too, right?
And if they work so well, it shouldn't matter if I'm wearing one or not if you are, right?
see my above image on how masks work. Yes, it does matter. I don't agree with any laws that enforce it, i'm way too libertarian for that. But a business to require one for you to enter? That's their prerogative.
Don't get me wrong, i don't feel very strongly on this topic. Refusing to wear one remind me of my kids when they don't want to wear shoes.
Plus I don't like breathing my hot breath back on my face, and I just dont want to.
Sounds pretty childish imo. I'm not one to over play this virus, i think it's really exaggerated. But, FWIW, i think wearing a mask during any cold/flu season when in crowded spaces is a good idea. Most of the world already does this on this usual anyway.

Open up America 100%
We can open everything back up, just be a little bit reasonable about it. Wear a mask if you're in a crowded area, it's not much to ask. If you're vulnerable/high risk, stay home when possible. Get frens to do your shopping or use curbside services.
This virus is nothing to fear, just apply a little bit of knowledge and let us continue our lives.
wearing a mask in a park is just stupidity. Wearing a mask shopping in a store is reasonable. Should be up to the business if they want to enforce mask requirements, but people are making a big deal out of wearing one when it's really not...I'm a nurse and wear masks routinely. If i can do it you can too, and if you've got a lung condition that prevents it why are you going out in the masses. We need to be reasonable, not afraid. But also not blindly complacent to things that don't make since.
People who have little lung capacity from disease or whatever can't wear a close fitting mask at all. They have no extra oxygen to spare. The mask cuts down on your oxygen intake a little.
to be fair, if you have low lung capacity you really should have someone do the shopping and go out for you. If you can't get someone to shop for you there's also curbside service available at a lot of places.
What i've said at the beginning of this, shelter and support those who are vulnerable, everyone else needs to continue as normal and let this virus burn itself out. Asking people to wear a mask in businesses is reasonable.
The authoritarian nature of it is disgusting, i agree. But considering just these simple steps in logic:
For me it's simple, yes i will wear a mask in a crowded public space. I don't need a government nanny to force me to wear one, as I don't need them to force me to wash my hands after I use the bathroom. It's just...courteous.
