There are already hundreds of demonstrated molecular tools that can function selectively in various combinations. People may be volunteering for an injection that results in de novo susceptibility to artificial pathogens.
It does make more sense that the overlords would save the obedient sheep and cull the defiant individualists.
Many years ago, Fauci executed a hostile takeover of the AIDS narrative, circumventing standard peer reviewed research publication by directly announcing to the public (via press briefings) that HIV causes AIDS. Technically, HIV is merely correlated with AIDS, along with hundreds of other pathogens. The underlying cause of AIDS is chronic viral / pathogen load resulting from unhealthy life choices. Big Science and Big Pharma can’t profit from that, so Fauci made HIV the boogeyman for the focus of massive research programs and treatments.
