New PC's who are willing to work hard to promote the MAGA agenda will always be welcome. You don't have to slink in, low key. Just tell them you're there to work!
PC's help to register voters and find candidates for office. Republicans do not field candidates for all positions. We sometimes lose to the dems because we don't even try. Lots of people sign up and then never show up to meetings. Welcome!
I want to see his polling data. I'm not going to trust anything anymore without backup data. Post-Trump GOP? Who are they? Favorable opinion but don't want him in charge. I don't know anyone in this category, especially now that JoBama has been such a disaster.

My committee was in disarray when I signed up--infighting that started way before me. I spent most of my time from May to the election getting things back up and running, and I was had only been a PC for a year.
Now we are working on outreach to new members, asking current members who don't show up to resign so others can have their positions. It's a process, but things are now in place for me to delegate, which is great. I call it a win. But the work is only starting!
One thing Democrats are very good at is fielding candidates. They put up someone, ANYONE, for each office. Republican's don't do that. That needs to change. Even if it's unlikely that a Republican can win, we have to actually make the Dems work for their offices. No more handing over power.
I hope people do sign up. It is true that if there open PC spots that the County Chairman can take your form, sign it, and then turn it over to the county Board of Supervisors who then make the appointment official. (At least this is how it works in my County.)
The time commitment is about one meeting per month. Then there are committees, some of them overlap a bit:
Fundraising, Voter Outreach, Youth Involvement--the Grand Old Party is old, Events, Technology/Social Media.
I became a Precinct Committeeman because of the Precinct Project. Most PC's, at least where I'm from, are MAGA. The problem at the PC level isn't that we are establishment RINOs, the problem is having enough help to reach all the voters, or potential voters, in a specific area.
We do need people to sign up who want to WORK at saving our country.
I hope people want to sign up! Contact your county Republican Committee. They probably have a website or FaceBook page where they post contact and event information.
Each precinct within a county has a certain number of PC slots based on registered Republican voters within that precinct.
We have 89 Republican PC's in my county. Maybe 1/3 of those are active.
