I love pits, and like humans, sometime there are just bad eggs. For the most part it’s bad owners, abuse, specifically trying to make the dog aggressive, things like this. Hell the vast majority of Vicks dogs were adopted out. A small few couldn’t be and they were specifically bread and put in an environment to make them fight. The anti pit crowd in this thread know about as much about pit bulls as the anti gun crowd knows about guns, and they use the same arguments. Pretty pathetic, I thought we had better pedes but I guess it’s a lot of weak pussy fucks who feel tough enough online to say all pits should be put down but would never dare come to my house and try unless they want a 5.56 painting my wall with their brains.
I do know the history. I’ve owned one for 9 years and volunteered at shelters. They were bread to attack animals, be it other dogs (really hard to get them to do this, most end up bait dogs), boars and bull fighting. The guy you’re responding to is a fucking dumbass. Even the ones who have bitten are often just scared. I know a marine who had to send his out of state because his pit killed a guy and they were gonna put him down. The guy he killed was breaking into his house with a knife while he was deployed and his wife and baby were at home alone. The guy you’re responding to thinks that dog should be killed, for doing its job as a protector. Same logic as the anti gun crowd.
That’s a bad owner. My pit is on a leash, and if we are in a dog park with other dogs he has a shock collar on and I’m close by. I’ve never had to use it in 9 years but they do have a strong bite, so unlike little shitty yippy dogs who bite way more frequently, their bites are strong and not forgiving (lockjaw is a myth). Much like with firearms, if you have a dog like that, you have to be responsible because it’s always inevitably the dog who ends up suffering. They are the best dogs on the planet, which is why people want them, but way too many people get them who aren’t able to give them the exercise and attention they deserve and need. This is why shelters are full of pits and pit mixes. That, and so many rental companies and states have shitty rules banning certain dogs or have weight limits.
Careful there are some neckbeards here that think they should all be killed, and we shouldn’t be able to responsibly own an animal but can responsibly own a semi auto rifle with a 60 round drum (I happen to own both).

Husky’s are more aggressive than pits. Pits are just seen as a cool tough guy symbol and people want to have them even though they can’t take care of them, and inner city pieces of shit abuse them their entire lives.

They are just horribly abused and raised by inner city fuckheads to fight. They have a tough time even getting one that will fight, the ones that don’t have their teeth filed down and are used as bait dogs.

Shelters are full of pits because people who shouldn’t have them get them. They are a working breed (dog with the most jobs ever was a pit). If you aren’t capable of giving them the exercise and attention they need, get a different dog. I will say that pit/lab might be the best mix breed ever created. Best of both.

And it’s still ultimately policy. I trust that she will stick up to the media/DNC more, but I also wanna win and this will have to be accepted that this would be a step closer to those political dynasties that are so unsettling.
